Mini thimbles from Espritpatch

A few weeks back, a new sew along started to sew fussy cut mini thimbles with Happy Sew Lucky. I was hoping to keep the pace but failed miserably. I nearly made the first 2 blocks on time and then completely got lost...

Finally this week I've finished 4 little thimbles

I'm hoping I can make a few more here and there...

Dear Jane F8 from Espritpatch

This one has been a very long time coming. I started it in June and I thought it would be finished easily and quickly over the summer but that didn't quite happen... I was working on it when travelling when I realise that I had cut 2 of the yellow triangles (around the middle square) too big so the  unit with the 2 blue triangles + yellow square couldn't be attached properly. I had to unpick and recut the triangles before sewing them back. Of course, this set me back for a while (I hate unpicking!) but I finally ...

Modern City Scape block from Espritpatch

With the lack of sewing time lately I have fallen behind quite badly of the various quilt-along.

Last month, I only made one block for Modern City Scape, block #18. I also started on block #19 but didn't finish it.

And block #19

I have attached all 3 blocks of Row #4 together. I had completed blocks #16 & 17 in May but never got around to post them here. I am still a few blocks behind but hopefully I will eventually catch up!

Modern Cityscape from Espritpatch

Time for a post dedicated to this quilt-along as we have just completed block #15 this week

With this block, row 3 is complete

and we have 60% of the quilt top already.

I am really enjoying this one I must admit, even though there qre plenty of pieces and lots of colours too so it requires some concentration, i.e. there has been a fair share of unpicking!

E13 - Moth in a Web from Espritpatch

E13 is finished and attached to row E, finally! I had planned to sew it while on holiday over a month ago and progressed it well until I realised I had cut 60° angles instead of 45° for the last 4 pieces for each sides of the outside triangles. It took very little time to draw the correct angle and cut the pieces back but here we are, I only finished the block this morning by the pool while we stayed overnight at a spa hotel.

I modified the block a little compared to the book, it has 26 pieces ...

E9: Quilting jail from Espritpatch

This block definitely felt like being in jail... so many tiny pieces and so many opportunities for issues with all the lines to align. I really tried my best but the block is not perfect...BUT "finished is better than perfect" so I will learn to live with it.

It has been a long time coming since I started it during our holiday in Canada last summer and only finished it this week while on holidays. I had picked it up again at time but it was so hard to align all the pieces that I easily lost motivation. Finally ...

More blocks from Espritpatch

Wow il just caught up with the Modern City Scape blocks as the next one is coming out.

I had finished block #4 last week and added it to the first 3

And I finished block #5 on Saturday

But when I prepared to join block 5 to the first 4 blocks I noticed I hadn't assembled block 5 correctly, another one! The panel on the right should have been on the left....

And looking more closely, I noticed the same mistake in block 4 plus the bottom right courber had been sewn upside down....

So there has been ...

Little more progress from Espritpatch

We are back from pour holidays in Canada and the normal rush of work/kids/house is un full speed again...

Our trip in Canada was really nice, and although I was going to make it to a quilting shop or even a craft store, none of that happened! We visited Toronto and the Niagara Falls and then moved on to Québec for a little tour. Lots of lovely sights and a great encounter with whales and black bears!

Holidays has also meant hand sewing as you might have seen in my previous posts and with that I managed 2 ...

EPP UFO from Espritpatch

A long long long forgotten project that I have unearthed recently, kind of randomly... I started the Mischief project when I received the kit from Karen in 2017 but it hardly progressed despite being ready to be picked up any time and on the go. It has been so long ago since I did anything with it that it had dropped all my UFO list a while ago.

I found some pieces ready to be assembled into blocks

And also some pieces assembled

I picked up all the blue that I found already prepared to progress on this blocks, sometimes ...

Dear Jane progress from Espritpatch

I have been travelling with my Dear Jane again lately and after 3 attempts on attaching Row B to Row C, it is finally sewn correctly. For some reason, I couldn't seem to align B12 and C12 correctly and had to unpick twice. Happy that it is now fixed and my first 4 rows are fully assembled.

I can't add row E yet as I am missing 3 blocks E5, E9 and E13. I started on E5 [Rising Sun] on our recent trip to the UK and it is now finished, with the sashing and added to the ...

On the train... from Espritpatch

Not much sewing time again the last 2-3 weeks and this has mainly be due to lack of time/too much work... I had completed the train block but wasn't happy with it so I unpicked it and remade it this week.

With this block finished, I can complete the third row of the top.

I also started on the top row "Harry Potter" and had spent quite some time 2 week-ends ago cutting the pieces with little fabric to spare... only to realise that I had only cut out "Harry"...

This block is actually half of the top ...

Mini blocks sew along from Espritpatch

Today is the last day of the Mini blocks sew-along and I finished my last block in the morning. That wasn't the plan but the last 10 days have been particularly awful for our family so there had been no time/ energy or willingness to do anything more than the bare minimum... sewing will help healing I hope.

I finally caught up with the blocks on our return from the US, first with the criss-cross

The curved log cabin, which I made 2 of:

And the rainbow

And 2 bonus blocks

And one more triangle geese too that ...

Mini blocks from Espritpatch

The Mini Series Sew Along is continuing and I have so far more or less managed to follow the schedule. I have even sewn extra blocks. I only really posted week 1 blocks in details here, so let's have a look at the others.

Week 2 was about the Courthouse step block and the diamond block.  I had already sewn those in September but here they are

I also made an extra diamond and a distorted triangle this month.

The next series of block was the pineapple block and the hexagon step block which took forever to sew with ...
